Summit Engineering's structural department provides a wide variety of design services. Our experience in residential structural design enables the efficient production of permittable and buildable plans for residential construction, ranging from low-cost tract housing to custom high-profile signature and alternative construction homes. Commercial projects have included structures of all types, including masonry buildings and wood-framed structures. Our industrial design capacity is robust and capable of solving challenging design and construction problems including metal and concrete tilt-up buildings, mining structures, and process facilities. In concert with the geotechnical department, Summit structural engineers and designers specialize in the design of retaining structures, offering an arsenal of solutions to some of the most challenging site and soil conditions.

Using the latest BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology, our design staff can also work with other design professionals and fabricators to reduce construction conflicts and change orders. In addition to design services, the structural department also works to provide integrated investigation services for forensic reports and expert witness testimony on residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. We can also inspect buildings and other critical structures for safe operating use and recommend rehabilitation or retrofit solutions to update existing infrastructure to current code standards or performance-based criteria. Summit's staff also boasts a number of certified special inspectors.
