Summit Engineering Corporation is looking to fill a full-time position for a Inspector & Lab Technician in our Elko & Reno office. Requires having basic math skills, being able to work outside in all weather conditions, monitor contractor work to assure construction is per plan and code, good communication skills, etc. Experience with inspection work or within the construction industry is a plus, but not required.  ACI, ICC, and NAQTC certifications are a plus. JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Work under the direction of the Geotech Department Manager.
  • Conduct daily time entry.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Follow all safety and administrative regulations.
  • Complete Vehicle Inspection Reports when using company vehicles.
  • Comply with SEC’s Employee Handbook, Safety Manual, and other company policies and procedures.
  • Nurture existing client relationships and pursue company growth through business development.
  • Facilitate the betterment of SEC through suggestions and actions.
  • Collect or prepare solid samples for analysis per industry standards.
  • Compile, log, or record testing data for review and further analysis.
  • Assemble, operate, or maintain field or laboratory testing, measuring, or mechanical equipment.
  • Participate in geological exploratory drilling and or excavations to assess subsurface conditions.
  • Describe soil samples in the field and submit them for analysis in our AASHTO-certified lab.
  • Test and characterize samples to determine their classifications in the field and using laboratory apparatus or testing equipment per AASHTO standards.
  • Monitor contractor work to assure construction per plan and applicable code.
  • Inspect earthwork, roadways, buildings, utilities, or foundations during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, or conformance to specifications and codes.
  • Attend project meetings and communicate clearly with clients, other construction companies, or other internal departments.
  • Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs.
  • Maintain proper and accurate record-keeping and documentation.
  • Maintain laboratory or technical equipment.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Collaborate on projects interdepartmentally.
  • Maintain technical certifications for industry standards, including but not limited to 1704 Certifications, ACI, NAQTC, MSHA, OSHA, and HAZMAT.
  • Work schedule is Monday to Friday, with varying start and end times, due to construction schedules provided by clients.
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Travel overnight as needed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Drug Testing, Valid Driver’s license & DMV Driver Report

  • Pre-employment and random quarterly drug testing mandatory 
  • Employees must maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Visual acuity with or without corrective lenses that allow for maintenance of driver’s license. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. 

 

PROBLEM SOLVING

Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Employees should be well groomed and dressed appropriately for the business and for their position. A professional appearance is important when employees work with customers or potential customers. The employee is dependable daily and is punctual.
