Summit Engineering Corporation is looking to fill a full-time position for a Nevada licensed land surveyor in our Reno office. Requires being proficient in mapping with AutoCad for record maps, ALTA Surveys, basemaps, etc. Strong business development skills and ability to handle tight deadlines for a busy multi-disciplinary company needed. Tasks also include records research, assisting in managing survey crews, cost estimating, preparation of proposals, etc.  Experience with Civil3D, TBC, Global Mapper is a plus, but not required.  CFedS and/or WRS certifications are a plus. JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Work under the direction of the Surveying Department Manager.
  • Conduct daily time entry.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Follow all safety and administrative regulations.
  • Complete Vehicle Inspection Reports when using company vehicles.
  • Comply with SEC’s Employee Handbook, Safety Manual, and other company policies and procedures.
  • Nurture existing client relationships and pursue company growth through business development.
  • Facilitate the betterment of SEC through suggestions and actions.
  • Evaluate the acceptance or authenticity of survey monuments.
  • Search for section corners, property monuments, and survey points.
  • Assist in field and/or office calculations.
  • Read and interpret civil improvement plans and/or survey maps.
  • Read and interpret record documents and maps.
  • Collaborate with staff engineers and other surveyors.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, laborers, home/property owners, and city, state, or county officials.
  • Supervise surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and man-made structures on the Earth’s surface, using GPS, electronic-distance-measuring equipment, and other surveying instruments.
  • Compile information needed to carry out new surveys, using source maps, previous survey data, orthophotography, computer records, and other relevant information.
  • Operate and manage land-information computer systems, performing tasks such as storing data, making inquiries, and producing plots and reports.
  • Compare survey computations with applicable standards to determine the adequacy of data.
  • Direct and supervise the work of subordinate members of surveying parties.
  • Aid in the development of methods and procedures for conducting field surveys.
  • Proven performance with quality control/quality assurance for ensuring accuracy in boundary determination, legal descriptions, ALTA Surveys, record maps, mine surveying, construction staking, etc.
  • Strong business development skills and the ability to handle tight deadlines for a busy multi-disciplinary company are needed. Tasks also include managing multiple survey crews, cost estimating, preparation of proposals, etc.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EAC/ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree or a Board approved equivalent, Drug Testing, Valid Driver’s license & DMV Driver Report

  • Professional Land Surveying License for the State of Nevada
  • Employees must have a degree from one of these programs or a bachelor’s degree board-approved equivalent. 
  • Pre-employment and random quarterly drug testing mandatory 
  • Employees must maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Repetitive movements associated with typing and other office tasks. Visual acuity with or without corrective lenses allows for maintaining a valid driver’s license. 

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

PREFERRED JOB SPECIFICATIONS

PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYING LICENSE – STATE OF NEVADA

  • Civil3D, TBC, Global Mapper a plus, but not required.  
  • CFedS and/or WRS certifications a plus Employees with knowledge of Autodesk software are preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Trimble GPS equipment, Trimble Business Center, and AutoCAD required.
